About
I am an anthropologist studying cultural evolution. My research focuses on defining the mechanisms responsible for generating cultural accumulation, the additive process responsible for complex culture.
In my dissertation work, I used a laboratory method called an experimental microsociety to test the hypothesis that imitation is required for cultural accumulation.
In addition to my dissertation work, I am also interested in:
1) individual variation in the use of social and asocial information
2) interaction of task complexity with social learning processes
3) understanding how the stability of cultural traits is maintained
